Hurricane Ike Alters Fall 2008 Academic Calendar

Just two days into TCC”s fall 2008 academic calendar, Hurricane Ike
forced the closing of the school for seven class days. In an effort to
make up the lost class days, Dr. John Mrozek, Dean of Academic Affairs,
presented the following alterations to the fall calendar at a TCC Town
Hall meeting held on Monday, Sept. 22, 2008.
- Oct. 1 — Last day for Add/Drop
- Sept. 24-25, 29 — Make-up exams for Incompletes.
- Oct. 13 — classes will be held (no Columbus day holiday)
- Dec. 11 — Last day of lecture classes
- Dec. 12-19 — Final examinations
(NOTE: There will be no break between the last lecture day and the start of final exams)
For those students with overlapping finals, makeup opportunities
will be held each day of final exam week from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Students
will be expected to take their makeup exam on the same day as the final
was originally scheduled.
Instructors must have all grades to the registrar’s office by noon on Monday, Dec. 22, 2008.
The adjustments to the academic calendar will make up five of the
seven days lost due to Hurricane Ike. Instructors who need additional
time will have the opportunity to utilize early mornings, late
afternoons, or Friday afternoons to schedule additional teaching hours.
Undergraduate Education
- First session ends on Friday, October 31st.
- Second session starts on Monday, November 3rd and ends on Friday, December 19th.
NBCE
The National Board exams that were canceled the weekend of Sept. 12-14 due to Hurricane Ike have been rescheduled for this coming weekend, Friday-Sunday, Sept. 26-28.
Doctor of Chiropractic classes are canceled on Friday, September 26.
Undergraduate evening classes will be held as scheduled on Friday,
September 26.
If you are planning to take the rescheduled board exams this coming
weekend, please advise the registrar’s office ASAP so that we can
forward your intentions to the National Board.
