2010 TCC Gala a Success
2/12/2010 -
PASADENA, Texas - Texas Chiropractic College hosted its 19th annual Gala on Saturday, Feb. 6, in the Houstonian Hotel’s Grande Ballroom.
The TCC Gala, whose proceeds help to defray educational cost for financially aided students, more than doubled the previous year’s profit totals. Chairpersons for the 2010 Gala were Dr. John and Mrs. Patti Felker of Stafford. Dr. Felker serves on the Board of Regents for TCC.
TCC president, Dr. Richard G. Brassard said, “Dr. and Mrs. Felker put a lot of energy and personal effort into making this year’s Gala a success. It was definitely our best Gala ever. With a record attendance, and unprecedented fundraising, I am grateful for their leadership.”
Always a popular event, the TCC Gala attracted nearly 350 guests this year including elected officials, members of the TCC Board of Regents, members of the TCC president’s cabinet, TCC faculty, staff and many students.
KHOU-TV Co-Anchor, Lucy Noland, served as Master of Ceremonies for the evening, and Houston Port Authority Commissioner, Steve Phelps, was the auctioneer for the night.
The theme was a “Salute to the TCC Alumni Association,” and past presidents were honored. Amongst those recognized during the program were Dr. Albert Miles, Dr. John Glasin, Dr. Carl Dillard, Dr. Bob Biddison, Dr. Gary Smouse, Dr. Melvin Aldridge, Dr. Chess Miles and current president of the TCCAA, Dr. Tim Runnels. Each had the opportunity to share their experiences as presidents of the TCCAA and were provided with a token of appreciation from the school.
Guests were treated to a lovely three-course dinner including the Houstonian Hotel’s signature southwest Caesar salad, cinnamon braised short ribs with red wine sauce, roasted fingerling potatoes with French green beans, and alternating desserts of crème fraiche cheesecake with shortbread crust and seasonal fruit and chocolate soufflé cake with unsweetened cream with almond nougatine. After a successful silent auction and an exciting live auction, guests danced the night away to the sounds of Fried Ice Cream, a unique local dance band.
