National Board Examinations
The National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE) holds its
written examinations in March and September of each year. Part I
examines the basic science subject areas while Part II examines the
clinical subject areas. In addition, NBCE has developed a Part III, the
Written Clinical Competency Examination (WCCE), which focuses on the
clinical skills related to examination, diagnosis and treatment. There
is also a Physiotherapy examination.
NBCE implemented
the Part IV National Practical Examination in 1996. This exam is
offered in May and November of each year.
TCC has set eligibility standards to sit for each level of examination
which ensures compliance with the NBCE. Certification of eligibility by
the TCC Registrar's Office is required. Eligibility standards can be
obtained from NBCE or the Registrar's Office.
Most states require NBCE certification in order to be eligible for
licensure. Some states may require applicants pass a practical
examination including patient examination, x-ray interpretation and
adjusting procedures, and/or a jurisprudence examination. The student
is well advised to find out from the state(s) in which he/she intends
to practice what the policies are relative to the NBCE.
Information regarding state licnesure requirements can be obtained from the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards site.
